Abstract
Objectives: This case study investigated the effectiveness of EFT with a couple experiencing domestic violence.
Methods: A total of 13 therapy sessions were conducted for the study: three 50-minute sessions with the individual participants and ten 90-minute couple sessions. Scales were used to measure family conflict and self-esteem both before and after the sessions.
Results: The therapist offered an understanding of the couple¡¯s negative interactions, allowed them to sufficiently express their injured feelings, and, through EFT, helped them recognize the desires for attachment. The couple developed new interactions as their self-esteem and conflicts were analyzed.
Conclusions: EFT with married couples can reduce the dangers of domestic violence and prevent repeated instances of it.
